Extraordinary things happen on the N�rburgring every day, but on May 15, something truly special is happening. For the first time ever, the FIA World Touring Car Championship will race on the N�rburgring in full 15.5-mile VLN configuration, which combines the GP circuit and Nordschleife. This incredible video of S�bastian Loeb hustling his Citro�n C-Elys�e WTCC around the ?Ring during a practice session shows just how fast these front-wheel-drive WTCC machines are in the hands of drivers like Loeb, Yvan Muller and N�rburgring regular Sabine Schmidt.
How fast? Series points leader Jos� Mar�a L�pez, also in a Citro�n, topped the time sheets with an incredible lap of just 8 minutes 41 seconds at a pre-race practice session, only about 20 seconds of the pace of the GT3 monsters that compete in the N�rburgring 24 hour race and VLN series. Seriously impressive stuff, considering WTCC cars put down around 380 turbocharged horsepower through the just the front wheels.
