In the three years since the Pagani Huayra made its debut, Pagani has been a little gun shy on building special-edition models of the supercar. It was a far departure from the Huarya’s predecessor, the Zonda, which had its fair share of special edition models. But according to Autoblog, that’s about to change because Pagani is already planning to build a roadster version of the Huayra, and its coming in the next 24 months.
It’s still not a special-edition model like the ones the Zonda had, but it does give the Huayra that sort of variety it’s been missing since making its debut in 2011. Pagani spokesman Luca Venturi confirmed the company’s plans, and while he stopped short of spilling all the beans about the Huayra Roadster, all signs seem to point to the car receiving the same mechanical features as its coupe counterpart.
So if you’re wondering, there’s a good chance that the Huayra Roadster will come with the same AMG-sourced 6.0-liter, twin-turbo, V-12 engine that produces 730 horsepower. A seven-speed, sequential transmission is also expected to be part of the mechanical framework of the supercar, as is the likelihood of a folding hard-top like the one we saw on the Zonda Roadster that debuted back in 2005.
It’s a welcome development for fans of the Pagani Huayra and that includes us. We still held out hope that something like a Huayra Roadster was in the pipeline even if it became apparent that Pagani wasn’t in a rush to build one. But now that there’s confirmation of it, we’ll definitely keep an eye on its development.
We’re just hoping that the two-year timeframe is accurate, because like everybody else, we’ve already waited for the Pagani Huayra Roadster long enough.
