Hyundai USA has confirmed via their Twitter account that the 2012 Azera is in its final stages of ride/handling tuning. It will make its official debut in November at the Los Angeles Auto Show and will serve as a competitor for cars like the Mercedes E-Class and the BMW 5-Series. Sales will begin in early 2012.
The exterior design will be placed between the Sonata and the Genesis and will feature a fluidic sculpture design theme with a waterfall-style grill and dramatic character lines, especially at the rear.
In Korea, the Azera (or Grandeur as it is known on the local market) is powered by a 3.0 liter direct-injected V6 that delivers a total of 270 hp, but for the US market it will be offered with a V8 engine that will place it above the Sonata. There are also rumors about a 3.5 liter V6 engine with more than 300 HP.
