The reinstated Friday morning MotoGP practice session at Estoril proved to be a complete washout today, with most riders remaining in the pits amid pouring rain and very strong winds. Conditions have been extremely murky at the Portuguese track all morning, and got worse rather than better during the 45 minutes of practice. Only Pramac Ducati pair Carlos Checa and Aleix Espargaro, Aspar Ducati's Hector Barbera and Interwetten Honda's Hiroshi Aoyama ventured out for exploratory laps, and of those four Aoyama was the only one who completed any 'flying' laps, tip-toeing around in 2m21.217s
